Composer, theorist, hornist, and educator, Michael Weinstein studied at the Conservatory of the State University of New York College at Purchase (BFA), New England Conservatory of Music (MM), and received his Ph. D in Composition and Theory from Brandeis University. He has written over fifty orchestral, chamber and solo works in the concert music field. Dr. Weinstein has performed with Nashua Symphony Orchestra and Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra.
In Boston, he has performed and recorded with Boston Classical Orchestra, Boston Philharmonic, Civic Symphony of Boston, Pro Arte Orchestra, Back Bay Chorale, Emmanuel Music, and Masterworks Chorale. He has been Chairman of the Music Department at Cambridge School of Weston since 2001. He is Assistant Professor of Composition at Berklee College of Music, and a member of the faculties of New England Conservatory Preparatory Division and Walnut Hill School for the Arts.
